Today I want to share a resource that will help decipher if an image is being used in a different context than the context it was in when it was originally taken.
TinEye is a reverse image search engine that effectively locates every time the image has appeared on the web.

This resource is especially helpful for viral images on social media. For example, this CNN account that is in no way affiliated with CNN posted this image, claiming Beyonce passed away in this car accident.

By reverse searching this image on TinEye, we can find that this image has been on the internet since 2014, as it was the crash site where Paul Walker died.
I prefer using TinEye because its extremely user-friendly and is quicker and more reliable than competing reverse search engines.
I encourage you to give it a try and see where the real viral photos come from! View TinEye's website, here.
