Headlines to infuriate

Today I want to share a story I came across last week that absolutely infuriated me. On April 9th, I came across this story from "Media Matters".

Now, I am fully aware of the tension between left-wing and right-wing media, but I believe "Media Matters" has taken this "make the other side look bad" thing too far.
This article claims that Larry Elder, the African American man on the left, said black families were better off as slaves. I'm not even completely sure if the writers of this article even took the time to figure out who was speaking, and that their false claim was coming from another African American. Regardless, that is their claim.
I watched and read the transcript. Elder only mentioned slavery once, and it was in this context:
"During slavery, a black kid was more likely to be born under a roof with his biological mother and biological father than today. That's the problem, let's deal with that."
Elder was discussing the issue of broken families and divorce in today's time. He was making arguments for children to be given better lives and advocated that the best family a child could have is all of it. But "Media Matters" turned this segment, which was not derived from any political stance, into a stretched article to make Fox News look like the bad guy. On top of it, they attempted to make a black man appear that slavery was better for families.
This absurd practice of twisting words to the point where it does not even mirror the original statements is all over media. I hope stories like this encourage you to read primary sources and come to conclusions yourself. Just because a organization is called "Media Matters" does not mean they are trustworthy.
